Amanda Marshall has been playing violin since the age of seven (14 years), and has received training from various professional musicians, including Ralph Matson, Concertmaster of the Utah Symphony. In 2014, she received the appointment of Concertmaster for the Utah State Symphony Orchestra, a position she holds to this day. She is one of the founding members of the USU Undergraduate String Research Quartet, an initiative that includes performing a chamber recital of three full quartets at the end of each year. Ms. Marshall is currently an undergraduate student at Utah State University under the private instruction of Robert Waters of the Fry Street Quartet. She performs on a Bruno Barbieri violin dated 1980.
Gavon Peck started playing the viola when he was 9 years old. He is currently studying with Bradley Ottesen at USU, and he will be graduating in May. Gavon plans to begin his Graduate studies in the fall. He has been a part of the Erevna Trio this year, and was a member of the Erevna Quartet in the 2014 - 2015 pilot year. He performs on a 2015 Daniel Salini Viola.
Josiah Cordes has been playing the cello since the age of 11. He is a student of Anne Francis-Bayless, under whose instruction he is pursuing a degree in cello performance from Utah State University. This is his first year as a member of the Erevna Trio. When not practicing, Josiah enjoys hiking and unicycling. He lives in Lewiston, Utah.
Whitney Koyle started piano lessons when she was 5. When she started 6th grade, she joined orchestra as a violinist and stopped playing the piano. At the end of her 7th grade year, someone donated an upright bass to her school, and she started learning to play it. Whitney spent two years after graduation from high school at BYU-I before transferring to USU where she is currently studying bass performance.
The Erevna Trio, USU's 2015 - 2016 Caine Undergraduate Research Ensemble, is the second year pilot project tying the Research and Music programs at Utah State together through performance. This ensemble rehearses 10-12 hours a week, and receives two coachings each week with members of the Fry Street Quartet on musicality and performance, as well as presentation skills. It is the mission of the Erevna Trio to impact the lives of those on campus, as well as those in the community, in order to demonstrate the relevance of the performing arts for students and people of all ages.
